What is the Hermit Body Brush

The Hermit Body Brush is beautifully designed with a canvas strap and wooden base. This brush fits perfectly in the palm of your hand and is an easy addition to any beauty routine. The Hermit Body Brush is a unique tool that is used for a technique called “Dry Brushing”.

What is Dry Brushing

Dry Brushing is a practice that has been around for centuries. It is a type of traditional Ayurvedic Medicine, called Garshana. Garshana (or Dry Brushing) is an energizing practice that has many benefits!

How to Use a Hermit Body Brush

Dry Brushing is a simple practice that can be easily added to your weekly routine. As the name suggests, make sure your skin is dry before starting.

Simply brush your skin repeatedly in short, brisk strokes, or in a circular motion. It is important to move inward and upwards, toward the direction of your heart. Many people suggest starting at your feet and working up the legs and torso, then moving to the hands and working up the arm, toward your heart center.

Try Dry Brushing before showering - this way you can rinse off any dry, dead skin. Afterwards, we recommend applying one of our Hermit Body Oils to hydrate the skin.

Precautions for Dry Brushing

When you first start Dry Brushing, begin with light pressure. As you get used to the practice you can increase pressure to what feels comfortable.

Be sure to avoid sensitive areas of the body, broken skin or other areas of irritations. Avoid brushing over any rashes, burns, cuts, lesions, or other wounds.

If you have very sensitive skin or skin conditions such as eczema or psoriasis, you may want to first speak with a doctor before trying Dry Brushing.

Do not use the Hermit Body Brush on your face. Instead, try one of our many Face Tools!
